The trainers are independent of the Institute of Value Management and organise the courses to meet demand. Course locations are in local conference centres, in trainee's facilities, or by joining trainers in house course. The Institute recommends that consideration of the trainers business sector is taken into account when selecting a trainer. The IVM recommends that the same trainer is used for each stage of training.

It is important to note that only approved and registered courses will be accepted by the Institute as the required training stages towards a qualification in Value Management.

In order to develop competence to train to an appropriate standard, the European Governing Board (EGB) has introduced a qualification of Trainer in Value Management (TVM). This qualification is only available for PVMs with at least 2 years experience, who must then attend a 4 day course on material development and training.
