Value management is used in all sectors of the economy, albeit mainly in world-class manufacturing and construction. The methods and tools of value management underpin lean manufacturing and best practice construction, not least due to Government encouragement. It has been used in the public services such as local government, the NHS and police and fire services to good effect, albeit dependent on level of awareness.
Value management in essence is a comprehensive problem solving discipline whose core elements of teamwork, focused management and systematically applied creativity cannot be reinvented. It is used at the design stage in industry and construction, also for improving existing products and services and their means of production and delivery in manufacturing and service companies, and for resolving strategic issues.
